Stewart Community Connections Society (“Community Connections”) is a small local working group committed to community development and opportunity. Since 2012 Community Connections has played both leading and supportive roles to a wide range of community development initiatives, including identifying community needs, advocating for services, sourcing funding opportunities, sharing information and providing logistical support to new and existing programs.

In 2018, Community Connections developed a Community Action Plan framed around “game changers”. Game changers are priority areas determined by the Tamarack Institute to have the most impact on families living in poverty (Holmgren, 2016). These areas are Income & Employment, Housing, Transportation, Education, Early Childhood Development, Health, Food Security and Financial Empowerment. Community Connections added one additional priority area titled Recreation, Connection, Inclusion & Support to capture the unique needs of our community.
